Duration of Emergency Lighting
When installing a new emergency lighting system, first you need to assess the time require to evacuate the premises. Which depends entirely upon the size and complexity of the building. The minimum duration of escape system emergency lighting is 1 hour, if the premises is likely to be evacuated immediately after a power failure.
For residential properties, or areas where evacuation is not instant (such as accommodation), the emergency lighting system should last for at least 3 hours.
